NYSD Foxrush Farm XC - 23/01/16
Following the cancellation of the last two Cross Country events due to the weather, New Marske Harriers hosted an event at short notice at the new venue, Foxrush Farm Redcar. Whilst not providing any hills, the twisting muddy course provided a challenge to all the runners.
The ladies race provided the best action of the day with Darlington Harrier’s Sharon Barlow-Hamilton leading for most of the race before being overhauled on the final lap by Middlebrough Mandale’s Josephine Stone. Jo Adams of Richmond & Zetland was 3rd. With only 2 points separating the top 3 ladies teams, the New Marske Team of Sharon Bulman, Kay Neesam, Eli Barnbrook and Kath Aspin came out on top ahead of Richmond & Zetland and Darlington Harriers.
In the men’s race Middlesbrough & Cleveland’s Greg Jayasuriya of Middlesbrough & Cleveland continued his great form for a comfortable win over Paul Wilson of Hartlepool 2nd and Tony Lambert of Richmond & Zetland 3rd. Many of the New Marske Harriers were marshalling, but there were good runs from Neil Youngson and Lawrie Everitt.
The New Marske Team of Daniel Gunn, Thomas Aspin and Kian Wildmore picked up a win in the U15 boys with Daniel claiming a 1st place in the race.
The U11 race continued to be the best supported junior race with 23 entrants, 10 of whom were from New Marske.
Many thanks to Graham Hall for devising the course and all the volunteers that helped out beforehand and on the day. We hope everybody enjoyed the races over a challenging course and maybe we will be back next year.
