Guisborough Three Tops - 27/10/13

Report by Lisa Bennett

Despite clashing with the cross country at Whitby it was a great turn out from New Markse Harriers at the Guisborough Three Tops Fell Race.  The weather felt a little on the warm side at the start of the race, but once on the tops, the gusts of wind and the hail near the final trig point made it a tough race.

Again Kay Neesam won comfortably (13th overall) and broke the ladies course record.  As I climbed Roseberry Topping and watched Kay skip effortlessly down the steep descent I could see why she is so great at fell running.  Let’s not mention my much slower descent and (hopefully no-one else noticed?), spectacular fall.  Luckily no damage done and I managed to finish 4th in the ladies (1st V40) and with a great run from Helen Whitney (8th in the ladies, 2nd V40) New Markse ladies team managed 1st place.

Let’s not forget about the men! Ben Thompson came home first for New Markse Harriers men and placed 68th overall.  Nick O’Grady was hot on the tail of Helen Whitney and finished 82nd overall. Following them, David Heath finished 92nd, Ronnie Sherwood 111th (1st M70), Phil Miles 126th (2nd M70) and Colin Scollay 138th.

Great running everyone, see you at the next one!
