Our destination on Saturday was the English institute of Sport in Sheffield for Jordan Thrower to take part in the above championships. Becky Tilley had arrived earlier and already run her heat of the 300m. Becky ran a time of 48.39 but unfortunately this didn’t qualify her for a run in the final. Well done to Becky for representing the club and entering this extremely tough championships. The next day (Sunday) Charlotte Bennett ran in the U17 ladies 800m, her first 800 of her new age group. Charlotte ran really well to run second in her heat in a time of 2-30.93 to qualify for the final, in which she finished 6th. Later on Saturday it was Jordan’s turn to compete in the U17 ladies triple jump. Training had suggested that Jordan was ready for 11m+ in competition. She was not disappointed and opened her competition with 11-05m. Jordan then followed this with identical jumps in rounds two and three of 11-20m a new personal best. Round four saw her shortest jump of the competition of 10-89m. Into the fifth round and the best jump of the series of 11-23m, another PB, which consolidated her silver medal position, 4 cm behind the gold !! Round six produced 10-99, still her fourth best ever jump. An excellent competition, well done Jordan.
