North East Official of the Year
Wednesday 27th September was a special night for New Marske Harriers. We not only had some outstanding performances on the track and field this year but we also won ‘Official of the Year’, from England Athletics, for the North East.
A presentation evening was held at Lumley Castle, in Chester-le-Street. Toby Jones received the award from guest speaker Stephen Miller, (multiple para Olympian), for his work in making it possible for a lot of the competition tracks to be able to use photo finish equipment.
This has already proved invaluable to an under 13 girl doing multi-events recently who broke the UK points record. As photo finish was used it was possible to claim the record.
Toby continues to put the infrastructure in place for this technology, and is running a course in November for people to learn how to use this equipment. If anyone is interested in photo finish please contact Toby on 07798872736.
A video of Toby training official to use the equipment can be seen here.

All races will be chip timed
Everyone Active Series Dates:
Locke Park Race Dates:
Redcar Half Marathon Events – 1st October:
ǂNECAA Championship Race for 2017 – enter early for early bird prices!
All except Coast Road 5k races will be online entry only
This is because the races have become increasingly popular and people who turn up after the race is full are understandably upset. We don't wish to have a situation where volunteers become embroiled in heated exchanges.
*The 5k races may be entered online only as part of the series entry when pre-entering all 5 race. However when the Mermaid 10k entries close, they will revert to entry on the night only as in previous years otherwise at Redcar Rugby Club from 5.30 on race day..
Entries for the other races will close 4 days before race day or when full – for last 3 years the 20 Miler and both 10k events were full weeks before.

Remember, any member/parent/coach can nominate a senior or junior each month. It will allow the club to recognise achievements that are not necessarily catered for by our existing award structure. It could be for competing or volunteering. Preference will usually be to those where the event has taken place within the month and who are unlikely to win one of the club's annual awards - but this will depend the strength of each month's nominations.Members can only win the award once.
